Shugenja

The Slithern of the Far East practice a form of mysticism alien to the mainland. Shugenja, a tradition of attuning one's self to primal energies and focusing this power through one's self to attain magical effects, is the province of the matriarchs of Slithern society, the priestesses of the Great Mother. Male ratkin are expressly forbidden from practicing the ways of the shugenja, as well as most other forms of mysticism for fear they lack the mental capacity and control to wield such power. Thus far, no one outside the Slithern has learned the ways of the shugenja; any individual who did so would either be self-taught or trained by the priestesses.
