Some Essence wielders don't necessarily focus their development on their dangerous wild-magic talents, and instead use their connection to the Essence to forge themselves into formidable swordsmen by exploiting their connection to all things through the Essence that suffuses it. A lost tradition of the Tulairan Empire, the Jadar served as law enforcement agents and bodyguards to Imperial channellers. These swordsmen wielded special blades of orichalcum and Tulairan steel called jathi, which allowed them to focus their connection to the Essence into amazing defensive abilities and to bring incredible precision to their attacks.

It is believed that orichalcum is an alloy of quicksilver, gold, silver and copper which requires substantial transmutative magicks to forge. The process of creating orichalcum and thus jathi was lost with the fall of the Tulairan Empire; if any still knew how to create the metal blades, they would be amongst the Raen steel-smiths.

Jadar have thus not been seen since before the Fire. If any maintain the secrets of the Jadar, it would be the Kanar Ashram.
