Humans
From DevroWiki
Man, descended from the great primates who once ruled much of the vast savanna that stretched across central Devro, now finds his strongholds isolated to the eastern seaboard of the land. While he once ruled much of the land as seneschal to Tulaire, the Fire brought down by the Elves saw his holdings dashed with the backbreaking of the Tulaire Empire.

Personality
In light of their once high glory and now near destitute land holdings, humans tend towards an initial suspicion of all non-humans. Yet, with their short life and the fluid nature of their culture and tradition, humans have all but forgotten the reasons for this suspicion. Most of the longer-lived races feel this forgetfulness to be man’s greatest weakness, but it is potentially man’s greatest strength: his short life and his mental fluidity forces him to become highly adaptable.
Physical Description
Humans height falls between five feet and a little over six feet tall, with weight falling between 100 and 250 lbs. Males, on average, are taller and heavier than females. Outside these basic height and weight guidelines, humans run the gamut of hair, eye, and skin color. In addition, as befits their fluid nature, they also are likely to breed with non-humans, and hints of these interracial liaisons show up across the generations. Human fashion shows great variety, incorporating both novel ideas and takes on those found in the cultures of their non-human neighbors.
Relations
Overall, relations between humans and their neighbors tend between neutral and friendly. Elven-Human relations are the most tense, but the elves feel more animosity towards humans than humanity returns. Otherwise, humanity has few points of contention with its neighbors.
Government
There are three major human governments in Devro – Drakenmoore, Callandor, and fallen Cauldor. Both Drakenmoore and Callandor are monarchies under ruling families that have controlled these areas for centuries. Cauldor was a monarchy as well up until approximately 300 years ago, at which time it splintered into seven autonomous regions with their own varied governments.
These governments deal with each other in tense peace, other than the governments of fallen Cauldor, which function together in a mercantile alliance. There are border disputes between Callandor and several of the nations of fallen Cauldor, but as yet these spats have not broken into any real armed conflict.
Religion
Humans have a pantheon of gods that most follow in all or in part, but there are some who ascribe to deities of other races.
Alignment
As befits such diverse people, humans display the full range of alignments; sinner and saint potentially come from the same family.
Human Lands
The once mighty Seven Kingdoms of Man stand reduced to three, all of which hug the eastern seaboard of Devro. Loose monarchies rule two of these remaining kingdoms; the royal families of these lands garner support from lesser feudal nobles and some nominally independent village, town, and city governments. The third kingdom has recently split into several city-states. This change occurred within the last three hundred years, and many humans see this as the coming of a new era, in which common folk have a say in their destiny.
Even with their distrust of foreigners, human lands have high concentrations of non-humans, especially the Quith. While individual villages are usually wary of newcomers, the larger towns and cities show a greater deal of openness and diversity, and there are many non-humans in such places.
Language
Humans speak several dialects of Common; each is largely interchangeable, but there exist differences that mark the different dialects as distinct. Humans also show an uncanny ability to learn just about any language, including some secret and lost tongues.
Racial Traits
As per the PHB, except:
- Favored Class: Any except Wilder. When determining whether a multiclass human suffers an XP penalty, her highest-level class (unless that class is wilder) does not count.
- Regional Feats: Humans select regional feats according to their home region.
