Half-Elves
From DevroWiki
Torn between two estranged parents, half-elves find themselves in a particular dilemma on Devro, namely that neither humans nor elves truly accept them, and while many desire acceptance from either or both races, half-elves feel they do not belong to either.

Personality
The Half-Elven mind is normally a swirl of torment, as many have difficulties resolving their identity; a half-elf may find acceptance from his human parents but will live longer than they will, and his Elven parents normally reject him completely. It is rare to find a half-elf who spent his childhood with both parents. Still, they received some of the best qualities from both of their parents. Half-Elves are usually good natured and gentle, with a respect for life and nature, and a startling adaptability.
Physical Description
Half-Elves are generally as tall and heavy as humans are. Their facial features fall between human flatness and Elven sharpness, and their ears come to a more gentle point than their Elven parent’s ears do. Their skin and hair follow the human breadth, and half-elves also show much variety in their style of dress and speaking.
Relations
Half-Elves are outsiders in most societies; no one really accepts them, but no one actively hates them. The general reaction of other cultures is disdain and apathy towards them. As such, many half-elves return the sentiment.
Government
As the Half-Elves are not organized, nor do they control any land, they do not have any government as a people of which to speak.
Religion
Half-Elves usually ascribe to the religions of the Humans and the Elves, but can follow any religion.
Alignment
Half-Elves, drawing from their human parentage, display the full breadth of alignments; their rejection does not necessarily color them towards reciprocating such base behavior.
Half-Elven Lands
Half-Elves have no lands of their own of which to speak, but can generally freely travel through the lands of others. Elves tend to turn half-elves away sternly, but not normally with deadly force.
Language
Most Half-Elves possess a knack for the human and Elven dialect their parents speak. They also can learn most any language, just as their human parents can.
Racial Traits
- Medium-size: As Medium-size creatures, half-elves have no special bonuses or penalties due to their size.
- Half-Elven base speed is 30 feet.
- Immunity to magic sleep spell and effects, and a +2 racial saving throw bonus against Enchantment spells or effects.
- Low-light Vision: Half-elves can see twice as far as a human in starlight, moonlight, torchlight, and similar conditions of poor illumination. They retain the ability to distinguish color and detail under these conditions.
- +1 racial bonus to Listen, Search, and Spot checks. A half-elf does not possess the Elven ability to notice secret doors simply by passing near them. Half-elves have keen senses, but not as keen as an elf.
- Elven Blood: For all special abilities and effects, a half-elf is considered an elf. Half-elves, for example, can use Elven weapons and magic items with racially specific Elven powers as if they were elves.
- Automatic Languages: Common. Bonus Languages: Any (other than secret or lost languages, such as Druidic or Tulaire).
- Favored Class: Any except Wilder. When determining whether a multiclass half-elf suffers an XP penalty, her highest-level class (unless that class is wilder) does not count.
- Regional Feats: Half-elves select either an Elven parentage or a human region from which to select regional feats.
